The top 8 free events in Toronto this week

There's a great big free festival at Ontario Place this week in Toronto. It's one of the final fests of the summer by the water and is capped off with a drone show. There are also a couple of great free film screenings and a bicycle-powered concert in a park.

Events you might want to check out:

Citizen Jane (August 31 @ Streetcar Crowsnest)
This is a free screening of Citizen Jane: Battle for the City, a documentary about Jane Jacobs' with a pre-film drink at the Crowsnest bar. Seats are limited, so arrive early.
Rice Cooker (August 31 - September 8 @ 652 Gerrard Street East)
Here we have a solo art show from local artist Chris Perez that explores Asian-Canadian culture with the use of a popular household appliance.
Summer Send Off (August 31 @ Christie Pitts )
This free movie screening in Christie Pits Park is one of the final outdoor showings of the season. No word on what the movie is yet, but it's a great excuse to hang in the park on a late summer night.
Donnell Leahy (August 31 @ Roy Thomson Hall Patio)
Master contemporary fiddler and Juno Award winning Donnell Leahy performs for free on the patio at 6 p.m.
Toronto Documentary Shorts Film Festival (August 31 @ Carlton Cinemas)
This is a special evening of the best of LGBT documentary shorts that includes an award winning film on the history of Disney Cartoons; and a polarizing film on the history of illegal adoptions by the Catholic Church.
Toronto Bicycle Music Festival (August 29 - September 10 @ The Elms Park )
A free, mobile, pedal-powered music night showcasing artists while exploring our city's bike paths and parks. The Elms Park in Etobicoke show takes place when the sun sets amplified by the bicycle powered sound system.
Active Ontario Festival (September 1-4 @ Ontario Place)
A festival of technology, art, food, music, market and events to keep you moving. It's a super family-friendly weekend, but also a great spot to relax and enjoy the unmatchable view of Lake Ontario.
Bernice (September 1 @ Roy Thomson Hall )
This live night of music on the patio is Arts & Crafts music label night featuring the smooth pop sounds of Bernice.
