Gourmet bacon delivery service launches in Toronto

bacon delivery torontoBacon delivery is coming to Toronto. While it's easy enough to come by at the local butcher or even the grocery store, put the words "bacon" and "delivery" in the same sentence, and you're bound to have a lot of people salivating. New Toronto company the Bacon Shoppe hopes to capitalize on that carnivorous cachet by offering weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly delivery of a pound of everyone's favourite cured pork product.

It will cost you, though. The average rate quoted on the service's website is $20 per pound, regardless of the frequency with which you purchase your pork treats. Given that you'll typically pay about $6 or less for bacon in a grocery store and $12-15 for an organic take on the product from a high end delivery grocery store like Real Food Toronto, that's a pretty penny for the luxury of having a slab of meat waiting at your doorstep, even if summer deliveries are promised to come in packaging that will keep your bacon cool for up to 48hrs.

Still, it's bacon. And it's delivery. The combination alone is sure to incite some interest as this company figures out its pricing strategy.
