Cheap drinks on a Toronto patio are a scarce resource these days. Prime patio real estate comes at a cost that's often incorporated into the price of a pint or premium cocktail. Luckily for the frugal among us, there are a few new gems that won't wreak havoc on your bank account.
Here are my picks for the top patios for cheap drinks in Toronto.
The Dime
This newly opened party bar on Queen West caters to a cash-strapped clientele with its signature $4.95 food menu and affordable mixed drinks. The beer here isn't exactly budget-friendly, but sake bombs for $6.50 and $6.75 cocktails will let you stretch your patio time and not your line of credit
El Pocho
Seven dollars for a mimosa, $5.50 for a shot of Cazadores Blanco and $8.50 for the El Fuego with tequila, mango and habanero peppers are just some of the refreshingly cheap bevies served at this antojitos bar in the Annex.
Los Guaca-Moles
This Koreatown taco bar boasts a casual beer garden outfitted with picnic tables. Find Dos Equis and Mill Street Organic for $7 on tap, while the house wine starts at $6. Even signature drinks, like the spiked lemonade, sell for $10 or less.
Round the Horn
Stretch your legs between innings on the back patio of this Roncy sports bar. Should the Jays go into extra innings, you can take advantage of the $10 special offered after 10 p.m. Earlier on, craft brews in tall cans sell for $7 while the rotating daily special is $6.
Belfast Love
This west coast import offers an impressive draft lineup featuring 40 craft beers all priced between $6.25 and $7.50 for a pint. The expansive cocktail list is predictably pricier, though budget options like Caesars for $7 and rum daiquiris for $9 are available.
