Weekend events in Toronto January 13-15 2017

Weekend events in Toronto show us that the city is ready to party again. There are lots of celebratory goings-on from Friday to Sunday, including the one and only PULP paper art party. It's a giant dance party in a warehouse space filled with installations for you to boogie inside of.

Canada's Top Ten Film Festival (January 13-26 @ TIFF Bell Lightbox)
Established in 2001, Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival celebrates and promotes contemporary Canadian cinema. From January 13 to 26, TIFF screens their selection of the top 10 Canadian features, shorts and student shorts of 2016.
Roxy Blu Tribute Party 2017 (January 14 @ Revival Bar)
This party pays tribute to one of Toronto's most recognized nightclubs. Roxy Blu was based on a concept of no attitude, no dress code and no pretence, the focus was always on the music.
PULP: paper art party 2017 (January 14 @ Geary Lane)
Ever partied in a room full of paper? Now you can. This is a great big art party combining installation art, live music, dancing and charity.
Body Heat (January 13 - March 11 @ Handlebar)
On the second Friday of every month at Handlebar, DJ Jamieson and guests stir up a hot mess on the dance floor with an eclectic mix of analogue and vinyl dance trips.

Pammm and guest DJ Daniel Z play Italo and cosmic disco, 80s Euro synthpop, Montreal sound and weird dad jams. This is an adults-only dance party, and there's no cover.

The original guilty pleasures dance party returns to Clinton's and encourages you to throw out all your New Year's resolutions because let's face it, you probably already have.
It's a Reggae Party (January 13 @ Thymeless Reggae Bar )
On the second Friday of the month, Thymeless presents TwinStar International With the best in dancehall, lovers rock, roots reggae, hip hop and RnB. The dress code is casual and the cover is only $5 at the door.
Queens Of The Night (January 13 @ Buddies In Bad Times Theatre)
Queens of the Night is a dance party in celebration of your favourite pop princesses and queens. This month's party takes on Britney and her Baby One More Time album, which turns 18 this year. Dance the night away with songs from her entire catalog from DJ Tom the Cable Guy.
All Vinyl Everything Appreciation Party (January 14 @ Miss Thing's)
It's $5 all night long at this post-holiday edition of the all-vinyl dance party. Come through and party with your favourite DJs Mista Jiggz, Agile, and Mensa and shake off the winter blahs.
Beam Me Up January (January 14 @ The Piston)
Beam Me Up is a monthly disco jam that celebrates the underrated and the obscure of funk, jazz, soul, boogie, proto-rap, rare groove, reggae, gospel and proto-house. It’s an evening of tuneful transcendence in the best sounding bar in town.
Bowie vs. Prince Video Dance Party (January 14 @ Velvet Underground)
It has been a year without Bowie. It has also been close to a year since Prince passed. The loss of their talent is still felt worldwide and this party honours these musical heroes.

Trade with Christeene (January 14 @ The Black Eagle Toronto)
Start off 2017 with a dirty, disgusting stench that will not wash off. That smell? It's the legendary Christeene and she's in Toronto for one night only to celebrate sexuality and to dance the night away with DJs Scooter McCreight and Phillippe. It's the first Trade party of the year and as always there's no slut or body shaming and no misogyny or transphobia.
Reel Big Fish and Anti-Flag (January 13 @ The Phoenix Concert Theatre)
Head to this all-ages show with two very noisy bands. Ballyhoo and Direct Hit are opening, and the show starts at 9 p.m.

Palmistry is "an outsider making dance music for introverts." Check out the critically acclaimed artist and his dancehall-inspired pop record.
Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man (January 13-19 @ Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema)
Centered around a tribute concert at the Sydney Opera House featuring Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright and many others, filmmaker Lian Lunson combines live performance and intimate interviews with musicians Cohen has inspired, as well as the man himself.
Screen Queens presents: Titanic (January 15 @ The Royal Cinema)
