The Best Congee in Toronto

The best congee in Toronto are soul warming bowls of savoury rice porridge that are perfect for any meal of the day. A popular dish all over Asia (and a really good meal when you’re feeling icky) you can get these bowls filled with some of your favourite ingredients.

Here's the best congee in Toronto.

7 - Congee Town

A spacious restaurant in Woodside Square Mall, Congee Town has huge selections of specialty congee for really low prices. Try their Super Supreme Super Bowl Congee, which tastes as good as it sounds with surf clams, scallops, and salmon.
3 - Sam's Congee Delight

Order a bowl of congee from this crowded restaurant in Market Village and enjoy quick service and super tasty servings of fried doughnuts for dipping.
10 - Original Congee

All the congee is incredibly affordable at this Scarborough restaurant, with ingredients that range from simple chicken slices to pork liver with fish slices. Options here are definitely on the simple side, but when it comes to congee, sometimes that’s all you need.
4 - Congee Queen

With seven locations scattered around North York, Scarborough, Richmond Hill and Mississauga, you’ll be able to get your porridge fix anytime. They’ve got great delicious seafood options here, if you like crustaceans like lobster and shrimp in your congee.
5 - Congee Wong

This Chinese chain has three locations in the city, but the best one is located in the plaza at Finch and Leslie. Accompany your congee with a crispy, sweet cruller or some fried turnip patties.
6 - Yin Ji Chang Fen

They may be best known for their rice noodle rolls, another Cantonese favourite, this Markham restaurant also serves great congee. Grab a bit of both for a super authentic meal.
11 - House of Gourmet

The go-to spot for late night Cantonese eats in Chinatown, this restaurant right on the corner of Dundas and Spadina has tons of congee options, including their Buddha's Delight congee which is perfect for vegetarians.
8 - Congee Star

There’s a big selection of food at this Chinese spot by Don Mills and Eglinton, but as per their namesake, congee is definitely their top sell. Their huge menu includes scallops with salted egg or shredded duck – for vegetarians, they even have taro and corn congee.
9 - Congee Time

The lobster super bowl congee at this restaurant, just north of Finch on Yonge, is one of the most affordable in the city. Run by the same folks who opened Congee Town, this Newtonbrook plaza is the place to go after a round at the Bowlerama next door.
