FUNDRAISER | A Salute To The Moustache
A final Movember blast before the month is done, tonight at Measure: Centennial College's CCPR program presents A Salute To The Moustache. This event will be an evening of fun and entertainment to raise both funds for and awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, and other male health issues. Event sponsors Black Flower Vintage, Floor Play Socks, and Original Penguin have put together a special fashion show, and there will also be a silent auction with door prizes. If you haven't had a chance to get out and support the Movemeber cause, consider checking this out. Measure (296 Brunswick Avenue) 7:30PM $10
MUSIC | Cults, Mood Rings, SACCO
Cults hits TO for a gig at Lee's Palace tonight. This band, made up of duo Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin, rose to prominence with the help of consistence kudos from sites like Pitchfork, starting with their Cults 7" release. Their latest, Static, has a darker approach, and carries a subtext of Oblivion and Follin's breakup. Mood Rings are on the bill as well, and are on the Mexican Summer roster and hail from Atlanta, where the heat might play a part in their lush and dreamy shoegaze-influenced sound. Also on tonight's bill are SACCO from New York City. Lee's Palace (529 Bloor Street West) 8PM $25.
BOOKS & LIT | In Person: Ian Rankin
Well-known crime novelist Ian Rankin will do an in-store appearance tonight at Indigo Manulife on Bloor, chatting about and signing copies of his latest book, Saints of the Shadow Bible. The award-winning novelist has taught at the University of Edinburgh and contributed to BBC Two's Newsnight Review. Many of Rankin's novels feature Detective Inspector John Rebus, a recurring character who appears in Saints, which is Rankin's 20th novel. It's been receiving very favourable reviews from fans and critics alike. Indigo Manulife (55 Bloor Street West) 7PM.
MUSIC | Elvis Monday 30th Anniversary Show
The have been a few Elvis Monday 30th Anniversary shows in the past few weeks, but this seems like the "official" version, without a doubt. This long-standing weekly showcase of cutting edge underground rock has been going for decades, and its founder William New's band Groovy Religion will take part in tonight's lineup, with the even more noteworthy inclusion of Neon Romanesque, an off-the-cuff nickname for Neal Arbic's appearance on the bill. Arbic was the notorious frontman of Neon Rome, an influential neo-psychedleic '80s TO band that was the inspiration for Bruce McDonald's cult film Roadkill. Also on tonight's bill, Tony Burgess' book launch, Echo Pappa, and more. The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) 8PM.

ART | David Bowie Is
If you haven't been to see Ziggy Stardust/The Thin White Duke/etc's life's work of persona-hoarding on display at the AGO - despair! Just kidding - you still have until Wednesday - but if you've been putting off visiting this major exhibit covering five decades of the rockstar's prolific career (over 300 items from Bowie's personal archive are on display over two sprawling floors of costumes, memorabilia, photos, sketches, and sheet music) this is your last chance. Even if you're not a super fan, it's fascinating to wander one's way through this stardust archive. Check out our photo gallery here.
