The first ever Buffer Festival is coming to Toronto this weekend, and will no doubt help many YouTube addicts to finally leave their homes. From November 8th to 10th, six venues will host two types of feature-length screenings. Some shows will be centred around popular YouTubers, screening a slew of the best videos from their successful channels while others will display a collection of videos from a common genre, like musical comedies or viral videos. YouTubers will be hosting each screening, as well as making special guest appearances. Instead of blending into the thousands of video "likers" and commenters in the online world, the festival invites fans to interact with YouTubers in the flesh.
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8TH
The Holy Trinity of Comedy
The funny trio of friends: Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, and Mamrie Hart, will bring their repertoire of inside jokes to Contiki Scotiabank Cinema 1 from 3pm - 4:30pm.
Daily Vloggers
This collection will feature Youtube personas who not only have the ability to generate enough ideas for daily videos, but can also keep them entertaining. It will be hosted by vloggers Craig Benzine and Grace Helbig at TIFF Cinema 2 from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10TH
Hannah Hart
This one's for the Hartosexuals, the My Drunk Kitchen admirers, and all of those who appreciate a good pun. Say cheers to Hannah's drunken antics from 1:00pm - 2:30pm at TIFF Cinema 2.
Aww, Cute Things
A video round up of various cute things doing, well, cute things. Considering the internet is mostly used to share cat photos, all bets are on that this will be a popular screening. Also the hosts are relatively cute: Andrew Gunnarolla and Samantha Fall. Join in the collective "aww" in the CN Tower's Maple Leaf Cinema from 3:00pm - 4:30pm.
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11TH
Mitchell Davis
This screening is hosted by Craig Benzine, and showcases videos from Mitchell Davis, who is the mastermind behind livelavalive. He's something of a YouTube veteran, he started broadcasting his quirky personality as a full-time job way before YouTube was ever considered a viable career choice. It's held unfortunately early Sunday morning, 9:00am - 10:30am at Glenn Gould Studio (250 Front St West).
Science & Education
In the form of quick fun YouTube flicks, science and education become somehow less boring. Especially the severely addictive AsapSCIENCE channel, whose creators will be making a guest appearance at this screening. Go learn things in TIFF Cinema 2 from 11:00am - 12:30pm.
MysteryGuitarMan
The coolest in stop-motion, animated, and altogether tricked-out videos from MysteryGuitarMan. Get entertained at Glenn Gould Studio from 11:00am - 12:30pm.
Grace Helbig
Ding! This screening includes the hilarious videos from Daily Grace, hosted by Mamrie Hart of You Deserve a Drink. They'll be at the Glenn Gould Studio from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
Screenings start at 9am each day and run into the evening, meaning there's lots to pick from. The full screening and meetup schedules are available on the Buffer Festival website
