The top 10 furnished apartments in Toronto

Furnished Apartments TorontoFurnished apartments in Toronto offer homes away from home (or between homes) that go beyond the bare necessities. Sometimes the transitional space of a hotel room is just too impersonal and you want to make your own eggs in the morning. Before you resort to renting a room full of Ikea stuff a la Tyler Durden or trying your luck with various unverified furnished rentals on Craigslist, Kijiji, or Padmapper (then cross referencing them with bedbugregistry.com, naturally) you might want to take a look at these options instead.

Here are the best bets for furnished apartments to rent in Toronto.

Toronto Boutique Apartments

This is one where the name says it all. Toronto Boutique Apartments have four locations (two in the King West area and two in Yorkville) of contemporary furnished temporary rentals that go for between $2,600 and $3,400 a month. Whether you're touching down in Toronto for corporate obligations or you just ditched your crummy relationship and want to stretch your newly single limbs and work out who you are in comfort without worrying about emotionally buying some outrageous tartan living room set you'll hate by next year, these bright, airy rooms (no ceilings lower than 10 feet up, thank you very much) will keep you happy and sane.

MAC Executive Suites

Anyone who'd like to rent at room at the Air Canada Centre should look no further than this business class catering co. MAC boasts five downtown locations plus two more at Yonge & Bloor and more in North York, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Mississauga, and beyond. Their downtown furnished suites (including the ACC location) start at $3,600 for a one bedroom and peak at $4,950 for a two bedroom + den. At the ACC location you get access to a health club (pool, whirlpool, sauna), in-suite laundry, a private mailbox, car rental services, entertainment centers, housekeeping. They'll also provide bathrobes, which you'll obviously be spending a lot of time in since there's literally no reason to leave the building.

Minto

Minto have four locations in Toronto (Yonge and Sheppard, Yonge and Eglinton, Bay and Dundas, and Bloor and Bay) and are a little more affordable than your other options. Furnished spots range from about $2,550 per month ($85 per day) to $2,850 per month ($95 per day). You'll get a separate living room and kitchen with Minto, plus all the luxury basics: entertainment units including iPod docking station (underwear dance party here you come!), en-suite laundry, and full kitchen. Depending on which location you chose, you'll also receive pool and fitness facility access and valet parking. Why do people rent regular apartments, again?

Glen Grove

30 years in the business, Glen Grove rents carefully furnished condos at four locations between Queen's Quay and Bloor, plus one more in North York. One bedrooms start at $3,000 per month (Queen's Quay & Spadina) and a two bedroom at the John & Wellington or Bay and Wellesley locations can cost up to $5,200 per month. Parking will cost you extra. All five properties are pet friendly, so your pampered pugs can veg out in style too.

Yonge Suites

Located right across from the Eaton Centre, 36 furnished luxury "New York style" (I think this just means "fancy" and/or "expensive") suites are available via Yonge Suites, most notably the two floor penthouse lofts complete with terraces, private balconies, imported crystal chandeliers and bidets. Yes, bidets, and you can even pretend you used it when you brag to your friends; and, in some cases, 60" flat screen TVs, and fireplaces. If you want a penthouse you'll be dropping $7,500 - $8,100 per month. Regular suites (2 bathrooms, entertainment units, gourmet kitchens, hardwood and granite flooring, imported custom leather furnishings, floor to ceiling windows, en-suite laundry, you know) run from $3,900 - $4,350.

Annex Rentals

While most furnished rental agencies are offering condos, Annex rentals will put you in a house in The Annex (as the name suggests), Yorkville, Little Italy, or Roncesvalles Village for $2,400 to $5,800 per month. These apartments are pretty special in that they've all been custom designed by visual artist Vivian Reiss. A little extra character and love goes a long way if you're looking for a long term rental, and if you're a home is where your heart is type this could be your best bet. Not all are furnished, so you'll have to peruse the website listing by listing.

Premium Suites

Premium, a Canada-wide agency, offers rentals in Toronto's downtown, midtown, North York, and Yorkville, plus Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Markham, and more. Most downtown furnished suites, including those in the Festival Tower (atop the Bell Lightbox) will set you back about $3570 per month ($119 per night). Oh, and if you've ever wanted to nap inside a glass box on a Toronto rooftop 42-storeys up, follow this link.

Lowther Suites

If you're not feeling the condo vibe, how about an Edwardian mansion? You're worth an Edwardian mansion. One of the five suites at Lowther, located at Bloor Street West and St. George Street, will cost you $3,300 - $8,850 per month ($110 to $295 per night). While the whole mansion thing is a huge plus, the furniture itself is a little fugly. I for one think they could stand to get some antique swag more suited to, I don't know, Edwardian royalty? You're worth it, after all.

Toronto Furnished Rentals

If you need to know you're getting the best deal for the most amenities (such as pool access and free parking), let me introduce you to your new bff. Handy Toronto Furnished Rentals can set you up with luxury bachelor, one, or two bedroom furnished apartments around the city. You're able to search their database by neighbourhood (central downtown, downtown core, Lakeshore, North York, Yorkville, and even Mississauga), type of room, and by rates starting at $2,000 per month. Happy hunting.

Del Suites

Del offers furnished apartment rentals at five locations at Tridel condominiums in downtown Toronto. One bedrooms start at $3,660 per month ($122 per night) and a two bedroom plus den will cost up to $6,000 per month ($200 per night). Each interior looks pretty well designed and swanky, so you can entertain your high class urban pals (or order Netflix) in style.

BONUS

Sohomet

Sohomet's furnished suites are as nice as one might expect for $3,000 (studio) to $4,350 (two bedroom) per month, and maybe better. They'll provide weekly house keeping services and "gourmet in-suite dining" (aka room service, for when you're feeling too dainty to make those scrambled eggs you're craving) via Senses Restaurant on top of basics like dishwear and silverware, flat screen TVs and computer, 18 feet wall to wall windows, and marble bathrooms. Oh, and there's massage therapy via room service, too, in case all this luxury stresses you out.
