On this Easter Monday in Toronto the Early Monthly Segments crew present three of Mark LaPore's short-to-medium length films at the Gladstone Ballroom. Boston-area professor and filmmaker Mark LaPore, sadly, became one of those legendary and mythologized what-ifs when, in 2005, he took his own life.
In his early 50s at the time, LaPore helped usher in a turn toward ethnography in experimental documentary filmmaking, photographing locations such as Sudan, India and Sri Lanka, drawing attention to cultural and economic divides between Eastern and Western worlds.
