This Week in Fashion: FAT, Muttonhead store launch, North Standard Trading Post anniversary

North Standard Trading PostThis Week in Fashion rounds up the week's style news, store openings and closings, pop-up shops, sales and upcoming fashion and design events in Toronto. Find it here every Wednesday morning.

EVENTS

|FAT| Arts & Fashion Week's ninth annual edition launched last night with a slew of eccentric runway shows, live performances, fashion films, photography exhibits, and art installations. If you missed opening night, you still have until Saturday (April 26) to catch the multi-faceted festival; tickets are available online or at the door, and they cost $35 per day or $100 for a full week pass.

Muttonhead & Company is finally opening their first flagship store and studio; so naturally, they're hosting a weekend-long extravaganza to christen the new space. This Friday (April 25) from 7pm until 11pm, sip and shop in good company at the opening party. And if you miss out, don't fret - they're stretching the celebration through Sunday (April 27).

Head to Kosoy & Bouchard (651 St. Clair Ave. West) for a month-long pop-up shop worth a perusal. The design store is hosting an interesting collection of antiques and found objects - ranging from a typical tea set to an unconventional traffic lamp - from now until mid-May. The prices are all up in the air, so if you see something you like, make an offer and it could be yours.

This Saturday (April 26) marks North Standard Trading Post (1662 Queen St. West)'s first anniversary, and there's no better way to celebrate than with a "Camp Season Kick Off" complete with balloons and special discounts. All North Standard branded gear will be an additional 15% off from 11am until 5pm, but if you waltz in already wearing it, you'll get 15% off your entire purchase. Plus, there'll be a big draw for a camp-themed prize pack including goods from Muttonhead, Hudson's Bay Company, Poler and more!

If you've got shirts with missing buttons or pants ripping at the seams, bring them to The Toronto Clothing Repairathon - held at Artscape Wychwood Barns (601 Christie St.) - this Saturday (April 26). Between 8:30am and 12:30pm, all your damaged clothing woes can disappear (free of charge!) with the help of the Repairathon's volunteers.

From noon until 4pm on Sunday (April 26), swap til you drop at a springtime clothing swap. The event's not only an overhaul for your closet - it's also a sustainable and socially-conscious way to give (and take back) from the community. Entrance is just $5, so lug up to 30 pieces of gently used clothing to Arts Market (846 College St.) at 11:15am and walk away with a brand new set of gear for spring.

SALES

Shop for Jayu's doing a little spring cleaning this Saturday (April 26) with a 40-70% off sale at Get Gelled Manicure Bar (12 Irwin Ave.) from 11am to 8pm. Hosted by Toronto-based lifestyle blogger Natalie Ho of My Little Secrets, the event will feature pieces from collections both old and new, as well as gel manicures at 10% off. You could get your jewellery and nail art fix all in one go!

Enjoy a two-day sample sale this weekend (April 25-26) at the Church of the Redeemer (162 Bloor St. W). From 2pm until 7:30pm on Friday and 10:30am until 5:30pm on Saturday, Canadian businesses Foxy Originals, This is J, Luved Clothing and Melissa Beth will be selling their clothing and accessories at up to 80% off. Be sure to bring along some cash, as they won't be accepting any other form of payment.
