5 things Toronto does better than any other city

There's plenty of things that Toronto doesn't do as well as other cities -- like transit and cycling infrastructure, last call, and some would argue just plain old fun -- but there are also areas in which our fine metropolis leads the global pack. There's a reason why we score so well on so many world city rankings.

Here are 5 things Toronto does better than any other city.

Livability
According to a recent report by The Economist, Toronto is the best city to live in the world, beating out Stockholm, Amsterdam, San Francisco and Montreal. The study looked at safety, livability and cost of living of over 50 cities.

Film Festivals
From Hot Docs to TIFF, Toronto has over 75 film festivals and counting. We have more than any other city in the world. Festivals showcase films from all sorts of countries and reflect genres that mirror the diversity of Toronto's population and interests.

Pride
Now only were we home to World Pride in 2014, but Toronto's annual Pride celebrations are the largest in North America and, generally agreed, best in the world. The festivities extend beyond the high profile parade and marches and include a massive amount of parties and, this year, grand marshal appearances by the likes of Pussy Riot.

Peameal Bacon Sandwiches
While poutine and food trucks might have stolen recent headlines, the peameal bacon sandwich is our city's flagship dish. From Carousel Bakery and Paddington's Pump at the St. Lawrence Market to newer offerings from Rashers and TLP, our sliced and cured pork loin between two buns takes home the bacon.

New York
In the last six months alone over 20 films have been shot in Toronto to stand in as a lookalike of Manhattan. With flicks like Adam Sandler's Pixels, the Marilyn Monroe biopic, Marilyn as well as shows like Suits, Toronto continues to be production companies' go-to locale for NYC settings.
