Guitar Lessons in Toronto

Guitar Lessons in TorontoGuitar lessons in Toronto could complete your perfect fall look — even if you've already totally mastered "Stairway." Whether you're looking for some smooth, romantic classical skills, better campfire acoustic style, killer technique to go with your bass face, or the chance to take your electric dreams beyond three chord purgatory, Toronto has a lot of options beyond that disgruntled teenager posting flyers every month at No Frills (though she's pretty cool to be honest). Here are our top picks to transform you into the guitar hero you've always known you are.

Long & McQuade

At Long & McQuade beginners, intermediate players and hopeful professionals can study acoustic, electric, and bass guitar in an array of musical styles such as rock, jazz, blues, pop, finger style and classical guitar or bass. Lessons can be customized to each students' skill level and interests, so if you only want to play Weezer riffs, well, it's your money.

Toronto Guitar Lessons

Matt Krunic is a band leader and guitar tutor who will come to you — or if you're ashamed of your messy pad you can bring your axe to his place for lessons. Beginners are welcome and "shuffles, blues rhythms and rock grooves" are in the curriculum later on, along with improvising over songs like "Hotel California." You can also try Krunic's online guitar lessons for free ($30 per 50 minute session after the first lesson.)

Kaos Music Ceyre

Kaos Music Ceyre in Etobicoke offers typical private lessons and a Rock Band Experience (start a classic rock band with a randomly selected group, just like in the big leagues) for young and old. They also offer group guitar classes for adults who are at the beginner level or are more experienced players.

Canada Music Academy

Canadian Music Academy has you covered no matter what variation of guitar you find most intriguing: here you can study guitar, bass, upright bass, mandolin, lute, oud, banjo, ukulele, dobro, and autoharp. Group lessons are available for both guitar and bass guitar. Teachers are divided into neighbourhoods such as The Annex, The Beaches, and even Hamilton, and you can decide if you'd like to study in your home, or the home of the instructor. Various locations.

Studio 211

Studio 211 Guitar & Bass School is actually located at the very metal address of 666 Spadina Ave. in the Annex. Instructor David Alan Glabais has been teaching for 23 years, and offers guitar and bass lessons for all ages from beginner levels to intermediate/advanced levels. He'll teach you everything from how to play guitar and keep a beat to playing slide and various alternate guitar tunings. Looks like you won't have to sell your soul for fame and fortune.

Lippert Music Centre

This East York school boasts over 50 years of twangin' and offers free guitar rental deals, high school credits, and tax deductions. Private lessons for ages 3 to adult can cover classical, jazz, and rock, and if you're looking to take Royal Conservatory of Music exams, they'll get you ready. Students under 18 years of age with 1 year experience or more can "learn the art of creating a rock band" in the School of Hard Rock.

Elite Music

Danforth school Elite Music Academy offers tons of eclectic lessons including Greek bouzoki, Turkish saz, and Arabic oud — but they're solid on the standards so you can take guitar and bass lessons, too. They offer consultations, free guitar rentals for two months, performance and recording opportunities, rock band programs and summer camps. Group guitar lessons and flamenco guitar lessons (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) are also available.

Toronto Institute for Enjoyment of Music

Their name is hard to swallow, sure, but it's kind of cool at the same time. This hip school near Trinity Bellwoods Park lets you get to know each of their instructors online, and offers group ukulele and guitar classes and private banjo lessons, as well as regular private guitar lessons. Students of all ages are accepted. Drop in Saturday at 5pm for those group guitar sessions where all levels of experience are welcome.

ABC Academy of Music

Located at St Clair and Oakwood, ABC Academy of Music offers lessons for students of all ages, though the focus leans toward kids. They offer instruction for a wide range of instruments including electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass, starting with note reading, tab reading, and basic skills. They offer various camps and tutoring options for kids.
