This Week in Music: Field Trip, Foundry, Constantines reunion, TURF, Stephen Malkmus, Bleeding Rainbow

Music in TorontoThis Week in Music rounds up the latest news, releases and concerts coming to Toronto.

Field Trip is coming back

Obviously. I mean Arts & Crafts made tons of people happy last year and the event probably paid for itself an then some, right? Field Trip will return June 7 & 8 at Fork York Garrison Common. The lineup is TBA but you can sign up for their newsletter. I'll be avoiding the Peter Pan Syndrome field tripping arts and crafts thing forever, but enjoy.

TURF announces line up

Not to be outdone, the Toronto Urban Roots Fest, which also made people happy last summer, has announced Neutral Milk Hotel, Jenny Lewis, Violent Femmes, Born Ruffians and more will be playing this year's festival. TURF will take place from July 4 - 6 at Fort York Garrison Common.

Foundry line up announced

We'll just keep going with these festival announcements - Foundry is coming back too, and electronic fans are salivating. Parties will take place at Tower Automotive, 158 Sterling Rd between March 14 - April 5, and Four Tet, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, Gingy, Shigeto, and way more are set to play.

The Constantines are getting back together

Dry your eyes on the sleeve of whomever is available - you have your Constantines back. Bry Webb, who double spaces after sentences, issued a long read on the reunion, ending with: " What it all comes down to is this: There is too much love and too much life in this music for it to only exist in the past. We're happy to announce that The Constantines - Will Kidman, Steve Lambke, Doug MacGregor, Bry Webb and Dallas Wehrle - will be playing some shows this summer, leading up to the 11th Anniversary Reissue of Shine A Light.."

Drake is sad that he won't be on the next Rolling Stone cover

Drake should just chill on Drake weather.

THIS WEEK'S HOT TICKET CONCERTS

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks / February 22 / Lee's Palace / 9pm / $26.50

Indie rock icon Stephen Malkmus, the frontman of 90s legends Pavement, brings his band The Jicks to crowd surf their way around Lee's Palace. They're fresh off the release of their sixth record, Wig Out at Jagbags, through Matador. Disappears will open up the night.

Big Knife Little Knife, Bleeding Rainbow, Hunters, Jigsaw Youth / February 22 / Unit 2 (163 Sterling Rd) / 8pm / $8

The event page reads: no bros / no jerks / no cops. So double check that you make the cut before you decide to include yourself in this party. The bands are from all over the place, Montreal, Philly, NYC, Toronto, and there's nothing quite like making bands feel at home than a tightly packed little show with lots of beer. Also by excluding bros, jerks and cops. Bikini Kill songs will be played, and that's all the incentive you need.
