Staff get better toilet paper than students at Ryerson

ryersonBeing in university can be rough, especially when all your available washrooms are stocked with flimsy, one-ply toilet paper. Or so students at Toronto's Ryerson University thought.

According to a report in Ryerson's independent campus newspaper The Eyeopener, the top two floors in Jorgenson Hall get two-ply toilet paper; the rest of the campus is stuck with one-ply.

The Eyeopener notes that much of the university's administration, including the office of the president, human resources, alumni relations and the finance department, work out of Jorgenson Hall's upper levels.

Ryerson's outgoing President Sheldon Levy, however, seemed dismayed by this disparity. "When I found out about this on day one, I said this is shocking, embarrassing, make sure this doesn't happen," said Levy to the Eyeopener.

Yet, the Eyeopener notes that this has been Ryerson's practice for years. While the university has considered equalizing the two-ply distribution, Ryerson's vice president of administration and finance said it would cost the school an additional $80,000. Some piping infrastructure also might not be able to handle plusher paper.
