10 things to do in Toronto today

I never thought we'd see the day when Forever 21 went under, but events in Toronto include the start of the retail chain's massive going-out-of-business sale at stores city-wide. Elsewhere, The Chainsmokers are here and there's theatre, comedy, storytelling and film, too.

Events you might want to check out:

The Chainsmokers (October 8 @ Scotiabank Arena)
From EDM to house to one of the biggest pop producers in the world, The Chainsmokers have left a lasting mark on the music world.
Wilco (October 8 @ Budweiser Stage)
The band responsible for bringing a different kind of country into the mainstream is here for a night of lovely tunes you can move and groove to.
Confabulation (October 8 @ Tranzac Club)
It's a night of mixed emotions with local storytellers dropping by to share tales of when we hope for the best, but change is inevitable.
Working Women (October 8 @ Gladstone Hotel)
Queer and ally comedians are taking the stage as Working Women returns with a hilarious night of laughs with headliner Andrew Johnston.
Zoological Surrealism (October 8 @ TIFF Bell Lightbox)
The work of filmmaker Jean Painlevé helped shape Surrealist cinema for generations to come and this screening looks at his non-human work.
All Governments Lie (October 8 @ Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema)
Part of Hot Docs' Canada Votes series, this film looks at the relationship between government, democracy and media, and includes a discussion panel.
Choir! Choir! Choir! (October 8 @ Clinton's Tavern)
C!C!C! is taking it back to the 90s with a big choir-lead sing along to No Doubt's (and recent cover tune by Carly Rae Jepsen) "Don't Speak".
Astro Social (October 8 @ Alternity)
Galaxy lovers and the astro-curious alike are welcome as this monthly social with topics like astrology, divination, readings, music and more.
Dock Mother God Society (October 8-26 @ Grand Canyon)
Set during the Kelowna wildfires, this play explores death, family, generosity, resentment and forgiveness.
Forever 21 Liquidation Sale (October 8 - November 30 @ Multiple Venues)
Forever 21 locations are closing in Toronto and across Canada but not before a massive liquidation sale with thousands of items on sale for as low as $2.
