Toronto vs Everybody sales soar thanks to the Blue Jays

Jose Bautista Toronto ShirtToronto clothing brand Peace Collective got a major boost yesterday thanks to the social-media-savvy right fielder Jose Bautista. The Blue Jay showed off his Toronto pride before game five by donning a Toronto vs Everybody sweatshirt, along with Josh Donaldson and David Price. He blasted a photo out to his nearly 400,000 followers, encouraging them to follow @peacecollective.

Not only does Peace Collective sell well-designed, Toronto-centric garments, but it also supports Canadian charity Breakfast for Learning. And for every item it sells, it donates a week's worth of school meals to children in Canada.

Peace Collective founder and owner Yanal Dhailieh says that his friend Kareem Ibrahim, who does some PR work for the Blue Jays, was recently wearing a Toronto vs Everybody shirt.

Bautista noticed it and liked that it supported a charitable cause. "Jose asked if he could get sweaters for the team in time for the playoffs," says Dhailieh via email. "We were thrilled and put together a package for the entire Jays team and this resulted in the photo."

According to Dhailieh, the simple photo generated thousands of Instagram followers for his company as well as $15,000 in clothing sales. "We were definitely not expecting that kind of result and it's so great to see," he says. "The amount of awareness we've been able to create for Breakfast for Learning and our cause has been amazing."
