Festival Music House announces lineup
With TIFF right around the corner, one of the best parties of the year, the Festival Music House, has finally unveiled this year's lineup. The invite-only event, which showcases Canadian musicians for producers, directors, and other TIFF attendees, has moved to Adelaide Hall (previous instalments were held at the Mod Club) and will take place on September 8 and 9. Taking the stage will be Dragonette, July Talk, Diamond Rings, The Darcys, Mother Mother, Alex Cuba, Michael Rault, Maylee Todd, Rich Aucoin, and Nightbox. If you can somehow finagle your way inside, I highly suggest you do - it truly is one of the best parties that you can attend during TIFF.
THIS WEEK'S HOT TICKETS
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28 / DWARVES / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 370 QUEEN W / $15.50 / 19+
Fans of punk and garage rock are gonna eat this one up. Known for their controversial and shocking lyrics, Dwarves, out of Chicago, are considered to collectively be one of the last "true" punk bands in the modern era. And while I can't attest to the truth of this statement (I'm not a fan of punk rock in the least), it's pretty clear that this is a band that has a very passionate fanbase. So, yeah - if this is your thing, check it out. The Queers will offer support.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 1 / DEPECHE MODE / MOLSON CANADIAN AMPHITHEATRE / 909 LAKESHORE W / $46.50 - $117 / ALL AGES
I have some friends who have been looking forward to this show all year, and the Amphitheatre is surely going to be absolutely rammed for this one. Depeche Mode is one of the biggest bands to come out of the 1980s, and rightfully so - their sound was groundbreaking when they hit the scene, and their live show remains really strong.
