Nurses, firefighters, police officers, power technicians, doctors and anyone else who absolutely needs to be at their place of work today, I salute you.
Everyone else is working from home, it seems (or not at all, in the case of most students) as a winter storm hammers Ontario with tons of snow, dangerous winds and potentially freezing rain.
Guessing most of you are cozy at home today π€ #snowstorm #toronto #yyz #publictransit #ttc #winter https://t.co/08SmzS6xUb pic.twitter.com/Ip16tmKOCg

Even before the snowstorm hit Toronto on Tuesday morning, TTC officials were warning of potential delays and cancellations.

"Please make sure you allow for extra time to commute," wrote the transit agency around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. "With significant snowfall on the way, service may be slower than usual. We are working to get you to your destinations safely and as quickly as the weather allows."
Indeed, service is all kinds of messed up. Buses aren't stopping in certain parts of the city due to icy road conditions and motorists are acting a fool, as they do.
That said, service is running much better than expected for those who dared to rely on it this blustery winter morning.
Meanwhile in #Cabbagetown the @TTChelps @TTCnotices keeps on going....and going....and going.

Students have the day off at most area elementary schools, high schools and post-secondary institutions, which may account for at least some of the roominess on TTC vehicles right now.
You can totally tell it's a #snowday in Toronto when the #TTC looks like this at 8:30am this morning....π· approaching York University Station.#onstorm #snowstorm #weather pic.twitter.com/kUA6olVI5q

Many daily commuters are also missing in action from their usual routes.
The storm is here and @TTChelps is doing a great job though not a lot of people commuting today - stay safe and stay warm #Toronto #

Stations are so quiet it's freaking people out.
Yes, Union Station was also weirdly calm and empty. https://t.co/4MqTc9Dihq

And the space...
Subway car feels gloriously spacious. #snowday

Oh the space!
In this snowstorm, a TTC miracle: a half-empty King streetcar appeared in front of me.
— melissa kaita (@melissaiscool) February 12, 2019
For the first time in what might be ever, passengers are able to bring sports equipment aboard the streetcar with them around 9 a.m.
That’s my plan. Streetcar in, snowshoe home. Maybe a BikeShare for part of it if MGT is clear. Fortunate to have options. pic.twitter.com/3tKbvzwgme

People are actually sitting down and eating breakfast. During rush hour. On the TTC.
Here is a man without a spoon, eating a pint of haagendazsca like a cone for breakfast on a ttcinsta streetcar in the middle of a blizzard on his morning commute. I doff my tuke to you,… https://t.co/HVf6za9923

There have been no complaints of platform overcrowding today so far.
Scene from Aldershot GO earlier.

I just made it into Union Station. The storm is starting to pickup. pic.twitter.com/FNZwxtGrHz
In fact, passengers say they're getting to their destinations earlier than usual on account of atypically low ridership.
0 people on the TTC subway = 0 people pulling the emergency alarm = NO DELAYS ❤️

The best part? Everybody gets it.
the best part about living in Toronto is not going to work when it snows because you “don’t want to take the ttc” and everyone else just being like pic.twitter.com/p3cG03z1et
— shannon poos (@tacosandxanax) February 12, 2019
We've all been there and done that, so what's the point of trying?... Aside from maybe getting lucky like those brave souls who hopped aboard public transit this morning.
Let's hope everything goes just as smoothly tonight.
