Sophie Hackett, associate curator of photography at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) has been very busy curating two shows in time for World Pride 2014. "What It Means to Be Seen: Photography and Queer Visibility" at the Ryerson Image Centre, and "Fan the Flames: Queer Positions in Photography" at the AGO both explore queer identity, the play of gender and the ways in which artists have represented the queer community in search of a wider acceptance over the years.
Check out our photo gallery for a brief glimpse of each show. (Then be sure to stop by both galleries to check out the exhibitions IRL.)
