Massive storm knocks out power to parts of Toronto

A line of powerful thunderstorms has left parts of Toronto without power, and the rest very, very wet. Toronto Hydro says approximately 4,400 people are currently without electricity, most of them west of Bathurst, south of Lawrence, east of Caledonia Park Rd.

There have been a few reports of localized flooding on the Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Blvd, and weather experts are warning of possible wind damage and poor driving conditions.

Last a year storm very much like this one caused widespread flooding and power outages across the GTA. The ensuing chaos crippled the TTC and left a GO train stranded amid rising flood waters in the Don Valley.
