Should NXNE and CMW get married?

As Canadian Music Week kicks off, the Toronto Star is playing match-maker: in the wake of CMW moving closer to NXNE and getting tagged by the June fest's radius clause, the two rivals should admit all animosity was sexual tension, mate, and forever be entwined. Imagining NXNE's try-hard demeanor could be compatible with CMW's dorky shmooze seems plausible when you think about the couples currently trying to make it work out there, but this one will likely never even reach the "brandy at midnight" stage - guess which fest does brandy at midnight: it's harder than you might think.

Field Trip announces: Food

We're all festival talk this week, by the way - what will you be eating at this year's Field Trip? As much as you can afford, from the looks of it. On the PTA snack team this year are Fidel Gastro, Buster Seacove, Hotbunzz, Gourmet Gringos, and many more. Arts & Crafts are bringing the two day festival back June 7-8 this year. Toronto Music Run

As Toronto tries to be Music City, so here's a chance to run around said city. The inaugural Toronto Music Run is a 5K that will take place August 14 this summer. Funds will go to The Remix Project, a Toronto charity that helps youth achieve their creative dreams. Learn more about the run / sign up here.

NXNE fluffs out line up

NXNE promise to address the Sonic Bids issue (the issue being using Sonic Bids, a terrible blight upon music) later this summer, which rings sus. Still, additions of Pusha T, Jacques Greene, Future Islands, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Autre Ne Veut, Xiu Xiu, Evian Christ, HSY, Army Girls and more are a nice touch. NXNE also announced a new special viewing space at Y&DS for wristband / badge holders for Sleigh Bells, St. Vincent, Spoon, Juicy J, and more.

Canadian Music Week

It's do or die May 6-10. CMW, Canada's largest music festival, brings established and hopeful musicians from around Canada and the world to Toronto.
