You can soon brew your favourite Toronto beer at home

picobrewToronto's craft beer scene has many loving devotees. And now a new device that calls itself the "3D printer for beer," according to the Wall Street Journal, will let you brew your favourite stouts, IPAs and pilsners at home.

The Pico, by the Seattle-based company PicoBrew, is a new countertop device that makes homebrewing easier. That's because the system relies on PicoPaks, or ready to use ingredient packages, created by more than 50 craft brewers from around the world including Duggan's and Junction Craft Brewing in Toronto.

With the Pico, you can brew 5 litres of beer at a time and you can customize your brews in terms of bitterness and alcohol content. The Pico is on Kickstarter for another two weeks. So far, it has raised more $1 million - its original goal was $200,000 - from around 1,500 backers.

During the crowd-funding campaign, you can get a Pico for $549 USD. Afterward, it'll be $999 USD.

Would you give homebrewing a try? Let us know in the comments.
