Toronto film critics pick the best of 2014

It's end of year list time, and the Toronto Film Critics Association has chipped in with its picks for the best movies of 2014. As its wont to do, the TFCA heaped the accolades on a particular film, which cleaned up in a number of the most important categories. Richard Linklater's Boyhood took home both the Best Picture and Best Director awards, along with a Best Supporting Actress win for Patricia Arquette.

In addition to the big-name Hollywood nominees, the TFCA's yearly picks also include a summing up of Canadian Content highlighted by the $100,000 Rogers Best Canadian Film award, which will be announced at the Gala celebration on January 6, 2015.

Without further ado, here are the winners as announced and the remaining nominees.

Best Picture: Boyhood

Best Director: Richard Linklater, Boyhood

Best Actor: Tom Hardy, Locke

Best Actress: Marion Cotillard, The Immigrant

Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons, Whiplash



Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette, Boyhood

Best Screenplay: Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel



Best Animated Feature: Isao Takahata, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

Best First Feature: Ritesh Batra, The Lunchbox



Best Foreign-Language Film: Ruben Östlund, Force Majeure
