Hurrier acquired by German food delivery service

hurrierIt seems like Hurrier's bicycle couriers are everywhere in Toronto, scurrying on city streets between popular restaurants and hungry diners. Now, the two-year-old service is poised to expand as German-based delivery service foodora has acquired it.

Toronto's Adam Hasham founded Hurrier in 2013. Since then, it has team up with more than 150 Toronto restaurants, bringing take-out food to those living south of Dupont Street. While it's now owned by the Rocket Internet-backed foodora, it'll continue operating under the Hurrier brand. And, it'll soon start biking its way through Montreal and Vancouver - it's currently hiring in both cities.

Foodora launched less than a year ago in Germany and it's already branched out to 15 countries. As of today, it merged with Urban Taste, a brand under the massive global food delivery network Delivery Hero. This is the company's first foray into North America.
