Winter clothing in Toronto is an unfortunate necessity. Luckily, a few new cold weather clothing emporiums have opened their doors just in time to get you prepared for what's ahead. These shops offer everything from layerable knitwear to down-filled parkas that will get you through the cold months without stressing about your wardrobe.
Here are some new stores to get winter gear this year.
Arc'teryx
If you're a fan of snow sports or genuinely enjoy walking around outside when the temperature falls below zero, you'll want to check out the goods at Arc'teryx. The shop specializes in high performance outerwear that helps combat even the coldest of temperatures. Insulated jackets, fleeces, ski pants, and base layers can all be found here.
COS
H&M's more sophisticated sister store stocks plenty of winter appropriate gear for both men and women. The shop has racks filled with minimalistic staples like pullovers, knits, and jackets, all ideal for layering. If you're a fan of Zara and Oak + Fort, these pieces will be welcome additions to your wardrobe.
Kit & Ace
Winter is all about layering, and Kit & Ace sells simple and stylish pieces that can be stacked up when the temperature drops. All pieces are made with machine washable cashmere, which is a welcome (and warmer) departure from cotton and poly blends. While you won't find their racks lined with parkas, there's everything you need to stay toasty warm underneath one.
Park & Province
If you're in the market for winter-friendly menswear, check out Park & Province. The West Queen West shop sells parkas, vests, and flannels of all patterns and styles. They also stock a few accessories like heavyweight boot socks that will get you from December to February without frostbite.
Nobis
Nobis is a Queen West shop that sells fashion-forward pieces that will get you through the winter without sacrificing your style. If you prefer to look like you're hitting the runway instead of the ski hill, the down jackets here will be right up your alley. The shop also sells gloves, scarves, and hats to help complete your look.
