Toronto's newest event venues have popped up in galleries, bars, cafes and in Financial District office towers. Whether you're on the hunt for an expansive party room or a more intimate space, there's something that will fit the bill.
Here are my picks for the top new event venues in Toronto for 2015.
IQ Office Suites Vault
The Old Bank of Canada building may not be filled with cash any more, but it still has a vault. Instead of safeguarding money, the 4,500 square foot space now caters to party throwers and partygoers. It boasts a full service kitchen and bar area, 70" television screens, a putting green, and enough room to comfortably fit 250 people.
The Addisons Residence
This lounge-meets-club on King West caters to those who don't want to think about DIYing decor or struggling to pick a place for the bar. The mock Beverly Hills home has a kitchen, living room, and rec room, all fit for the most upscale of bashes. It functions as a regular club on most evenings, but can be rented out for more exclusive events.
Love & Greed
At first glance, Love & Greed looks to be an upscale men's clothing store. If you stroll past the racks of fashion-forward boots and blazers, however, you'll find an underground whiskey bar suitable for smaller scale events. If you're a fan of aged scotches and dapper duds, this may be the right fit.
Artscape Sandbox
The newest member of the Artscape family has popped up on Adelaide, and is ideal for more than just theatrical productions and art exhibits. The 6,000 square foot space has more than enough room to host one hell of a shindig. And, it's a blank canvas, so you can really do whatever you want with it theme-wise.
BMO Field
In 2014, Toronto sports fans hungrily awaited the opening of a renovated BMO field. Now that it's finished, we can see that it's much more than a hub where soccer junkies to congregate. The field has three swanky event spaces that allow for bookings on non-game days. They hold between 400 and 740 people (depending on which you choose) and offer on-site catering.
Boxcar Social Riverside
Boxcar Social in Riverside is a new option for the east siders. Perfect for party throwers that stray away from hyper contemporary spaces, the building is well over 100 years old and can hold up to 60 guests with a fully stocked cafe and bar.
The Aperture Room
Hidden amongst the throngs of retail stores and restaurants on Yonge Street you'll find The Aperture Room. It occupies the third floor of the Thornton-Smith heritage building, and offers ample space for up to 180 guests to mix and mingle. Catering is provided by O & B, meaning that the food will be much better than if you tasked yourself with procuring shrimp rings from your local Loblaws.
D-Beatstro
D-Beatstro is the most casual contender in this round up. The "jack of all trades" space functions as everything from an exhibitions space to a vegetarian restaurant. If you're looking for something for a more creative-minded group of guests, this space is worth checking out.
5 Brock Events
The space that previously housed Neubacher Shor Contemporary has recently been converted into an event venue. The 3,000 square foot loft is spacious enough to hold up to 250 guests, or 150 if you plan on hosting a banquet. It boasts movable art walls, a fully equipped kitchen, built-in audio, and pretty much everything else you could ever need.
SKETCH
SKETCH offers a flexible, 2,500 square foot event space complete with a large commercial kitchen. It can hold up to 220 guests, but if you're looking to host a smaller gathering, you can skip renting the entire venue and instead book out a segment of it. The space is pretty bare bones, so the decorating is in your hands.
