The best and worst Starbucks locations in Toronto

Toronto is filled with a diverse array of independent coffee shops and cafes, but we also have our fair share of Starbucks locations. And oftentimes we're ushered inside thanks to the brand's compelling Siren song. As a former Starbucks partner (i.e. barista), I've had plenty of positive and rather frustrating experiences on both sides of the counter.

Here are my picks for the best and worst Starbucks in Toronto.

BEST

Dupont and Christie
This is my favourite Starbucks in the city by far. Along with friendly staff, this location boasts stunning chandeliers and tall windows. Since the building used to hold a bank, there's an old vault you can reserve for private group meetings or quiet contemplation.

81 Front St E at Jarvis
As a Starbucks Reserve store, this outpost serves certain roasts that aren't available at most other locations. Along with fancier beans and the clover brewing system, there's also plenty of sitting room here. And the proximity to the St. Lawrence market is a bonus if you're craving a quick snack beyond cookies, oat bars or a breakfast sandwich.

Adelaide and Peter
As a relatively new store, this location boasts an industrial-style interior and impressive lighting thanks to its glass exterior. Despite the heavy weekday morning rush, staff remain helpful and friendly.

Mount Pleasant & Soudan
The staff here are knowledgeable, friendly and fast. With two floors, you won't have to scrounge for a place to kick back with your #PSL (or any other sinfully-sweet seasonal beverage).

WORST

10 Dundas East
Located at the bottom level of a massive retail and entertainment complex (that's steps from one of the city's busiest and most touristy intersections), it's no surprise that this location is plagued by long lineups. While it's quite convenient for Ryerson students, you'll want to give yourself plenty of time if you're heading here before class.

Eaton Centre (outside La Senza)
Expect long lineups at this heavily trafficked location. Due to the craziness that is the Eaton Centre, it's no wonder many have gotten an incorrect or less-than-perfect order here.

30 Carlton Street (Inside the Holiday Inn)
While situated inside the Holiday Inn, this is a busy spot that's super close to the Yonge subway line. Instead of waiting, many choose to head to one of the three alternative locations within walking distance as they're also turned off by the dirty washroom and lack of seating.

Bloor and Prince Edward
A cramped seating area and staff who seem like they'd rather be elsewhere make for a less than pleasant experience here. Despite its westerly location, this location also has lineup troubles during the morning rush.
