Radar: Prelude to Lost Boys, Kanye West, Nightmare Before Christmas Party, Elvis Monday, Vodka Bomb

Lost BoysToronto events on December 23rd, 2013

PHOTOGRAPHY | A Prelude to Lost Boys

A Prelude To Lost Boys opens today at Creatures Creating on Dundas West. To say this is an exhibition of photography does not completely do the event justice, as the displaying and mounting of the photos - in "tiers" - adds an extra dimension to the show. The Lost Boys Photo Series is a work focused on Toronto's gay community and the history of gay culture in our city, and was originally shown at the Ryerson Closer Gallery. This exhibition runs until January 2nd. Creatures Creating (822 Dundas Street West)

MUSIC | Kanye West + Kendrick Lamar @ ACC

Kanye hits town tonight to deliver the second of two nights from his Yeezus tour that was postponed from last month. This ubiquitous musical personality is seeing ups and downs in his career as he gets jabs from Jimmy Kimmel and others, and becomes just as talked about in the "tabloid" world as the music world, but Yeezus is definitely considered an important work from this artist, and rapper Kendrick Lamar will be on hand tonight as a supporting act. Air Canada Centre (40 Bay Street) 7:30PM.

PARTY | Neutral's Nightmare Before Christmas Party

It maybe Monday night, but big things will be happening tonight at Neutral's Nightmare Before Christmas Party. An evening with the rare and unusual combination of "goth, horror and Christmas cheer" is forecasted, and given the talent at hand things look promising: DJ Ivan Palmer, a staple in this city's original '80s alternative dance scene will be spinning, along with DJ Darkness Visible. Neutral (282 Augusta Avenue) 10PM $10 (free before 11:15)

MUSIC | Elvis Monday

If what you need is a good dose of rock before you're immersed in family events for a few days, then The Drake Hotel might be the place to head tonight for Elvis Monday, TO's longest running alternative music showcase. By now you must have heard of this weekly event, that served as ground zero for early performances by Beck, Peaches, By Divine Right and many other TO music movers and shakers. Tonight's lineup: Leslie Moorely, Marlon Chaplin, Boy Pussy, and Mark Watt. As always, Elvis Monday has no cover charge. The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) 9PM
