The top 13 new soft serve ice cream in Toronto

soft serve torontoNew twists on soft serve are abundant in Toronto this summer. Ice cream parlours and dessert houses are getting creative with everything from the ice cream flavours to over-the-top toppings and crazy cones.

Here are my picks for the top new soft serve ice cream in Toronto this summer.

La Diperie
This Montreal chain opened its first Toronto location on the Danforth. With vanilla soft serve as a base, you can get your cone dunked in one of 20 chocolately dips and then rolled through various toppings.

Junked Food Co.
This late night snack bar on Dundas West has jumped on the epic soft serve bandwagon. Vanilla cones can be decorated with Lucky Charms and Froot Loops, sour candies and PB&J, or go S'moreo style with marshmallow fluff and crushed Oreo cookies.

soft serve torontoFugo Desserts
Thai tea, earl grey and black sesame are all soft serve flavours at this internationally inspired treat shop in the Dundas and Bay area. Have a swirl of vanilla soft serve in a cup dressed up with Corn Flakes, honeycomb and a dusting of matcha powder.

Seven Lives Paleteria
This offshoot from Kensington Market's favourite fish taco vendor has whipped up a collection of fruity, dairy-free soft serve flavours, including the Disney Land-famous pineapple flavoured Dole Whip.

soft serve torontoSweet Jesus (Queen East)
As a walk-up window in front of La Carnita on Queen East, the second Sweet Jesus location is serving up its pimped out ice cream cones. Crazy creations include the cotton candy topped Krusty The Cone and Cinnamon Cone Crunch.

soft serve torontoNana Shake
Fruity soft serve in flavours like Strawberry Funshine, Spiced Date, and Rosey Pistachio are the specialty at this North York treat shop. All the frozen treats are vegan and made with a frozen banana blended with a cacophony of other delectable accoutrements.

soft serve torontoTsujiri
Emerald hued matcha soft serve is the specialty at this Japanese dessert house in Toronto's Little Tokyo. Get the Tsujiri sundae built in a cup over layers of crunchy roasted brown rice, and thick red bean paste.

Eva's Original Chimneys
A swirl of soft serve piped into a cinnamon-sugar dusted chimney has become an instant hit no matter where this food truck is parked. A stationary food stand at the Union Summer Market means there's no need to chase the truck around town to nab one.

soft serve torontoDolce 21
This sweet shop located in Markham's Pacific Mall crafts fanciful desserts with its Tiffany Blue vanilla soft serve. One option comes topped with a cloud of cotton candy while another is crowned with a chunk of honeycomb and Koala cookies.

soft serve torontoKekou
There's no plain vanilla at this Queen and Spadina gelateria. Instead, order swirls of jasmine tea, almond tofu, tangy yogurt and refreshing passion fruit soft serve.

soft serve torontoBar Ape
Bar Ape has opened a walk-up window in the St. Clair West neighbourhood. New to the menu is the soft serve in rotating, seasonally-inspired flavours like rhubarb, mango and passionfruit.

Moji
This Japanese eatery in Unionville serves twists of matcha and taro soft serve in cones and cups decorated with tapioca popping pearls or made into parfaits with pocky sticks, marshmallows, candies and more.

soft serve torontoThe Fifth Gastropub
This pub in the Entertainment District isn't new, but the Fancy Softee ice cream stand with DIY toppings bar is. Reese's Pieces? Sour candies? Nuts? Salty pretzels? They're all there.
