There's nothing like watching a movie in the park on a summer's eve and you can do just that in Christie Pits (not Pitts) starting next month, as the Christie Pits Film Festival unveils its programming for the season.
Part of the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show series of screenings, the CPFF season officially kicks off on June 30 and runs until August 25 on Sundays (with a Saturday screening on August 18). It starts about two weeks after TOPS begins its programming in Fort York on June 15.
This year's theme is Dynamic Duos, showcasing the best of cinematic partnership, friendship, coupledom, rivalry, dopplegängers and, in the case of Grey Gardens, well... you'll see.
Each feature is paired with a Canadian-made short. Starting things off in honour of Pride month is Wanuri Kahiu's Rafiki, described as "a barrier-breaking tale of forbidden love in Kenya between two daughters of political rivals who are unable to resist each other's spell."
