The best new restaurants in Toronto add to the colourful collage that is our food scene. This year, we got spots that pay homage to strong European and Asian traditions, from French and Korean to Peruvian and Cambodian.
Here are the best new restaurants in Toronto.
3 - Paris ParisThis new addition to Dundas and Ossington proves that rosé all day isn't just a saying, it's what a lot of food lovers in Toronto want for real. Wine and food that goes with it is served all day in a wood-clad, skylit environment here.
11 - Mezu
This casual spot near Dundas and Beaconsfield serves up small plates of Korean-Canadian fusion including incredibly flavourful bulgogi, ssam and steak tartare with seaweed chips.
4 - Giulietta
The former location of Bestellen on College Street replaced the meats in their fridge with fresh produce to transform into this Italian concept that also features an open kitchen with a wood fire oven.
5 - Parallel
This industrial tahini factory on Geary Avenue is now the place to go in the city for Israeli staples including fresh falafel, hummus and house made halva. It's also open during the day as a cafe and lunch spot.
8 - Le Swan
Jen Agg’s latest concept making over an old diner on West Queen West has proven popular, serving French bistro fare complemented by classic American diner food. Don't miss the steak frites.
10 - Mira
The chocolate bomb at this tucked-away Peruvian restaurant near King and Spadina became a social media sensation this year, and the rest of the menu featuring items like a ceviche sampler and Pisco sours is just as mind-blowing.
6 - Tuk Tuk Canteen
The former home of Rude Boy on Roncevalles is now this dimly lit Cambodian restaurant featuring sharable plates, fun cocktails and a chef's table. Seating is a mix of bar stools and intimate tables.
9 - Kojin
The people behind Momofuku next to the Shangri-La Hotel at University and Adelaide reimagined the glass enclosed second floor into a stunning space featuring a white-oak burning Argentinian style grill. The cheeseburger here is a must-get.
7 - Seoul Shakers
Korean snacks and teapot cocktails are a hit at this hideaway that’s popped up where Holy Oak used to be near Bloor and Lansdowne. They don't take reservations so plan on leaving your number and grabbing a drink in the 'hood while you wait for a table.
